RFQ Details

The basic equipment we use today is a digital MP3 audio player which is custom designed for

visitor use at visited sites.

It can deliver CD quality sound and it has a keypad on which the visitor enters the appropriate

tour stop number. Being based on solid-state chip technology, it has no moving parts, is

lightweight, and yet is extremely reliable. It has a long life rechargeable battery, so it can be

used all day long and recharged overnight.

Its capacity to cover any collection of exhibits is impressive. It can hold up to 30 languages

with 60 one-minute stops per language. Alternatively, it can hold 10 languages with 180 oneminute

stops per language, or any combination that brings you up to 1800 minutes, or 30

hours of commentary.

A key feature of our new equipment is that it allows change-on-the-fly programming. This

means that we can produce and then email your programming to an on-site computer,

supplied by us, from which our personnel can quickly load the audio players. So your

programming can stay up to date with your changing exhibits or other changes at your site.

It would be up to you whether you wanted to use single earphones (which sit next to not go

into one ear), or use the more familiar double earphone, aka headset. For indoor sites, the

headset is generally preferred, for outdoors, the single is usually better.

Using either, we also have a double jack which allows two people to share one machine. It is

a useful option which can double the number of users handled in case you suddenly get

several surprise busloads of visitors all at once.

We also have a radio system which lets group members receive both the recorded

commentary and the group leader's spoken commentary.

The radio system brings peace and quiet to any exhibit area which has more than one group at

a time. It improves both the quality of the interpretation and the overall experience for all visitors.
